Introduction:
Due to the similarities in certain physical characteristics between Mars and Earth, as well as its unique topography, there is significant human interest in Mars exploration. The Mars environmental simulation chamber can simulate various conditions on the Martian surface, providing support for Mars exploration missions.
Functions:
The Mars environmental simulation chamber can simulate special environmental conditions on the Martian surface, such as temperature, pressure, wind speed, solar radiation, ultraviolet radiation, low gravity, and Martian dust. It tests the adaptability and reliability of spacecraft and aerospace equipment during landing and exploration on Mars, ensuring their proper operation on the Martian surface.
The Mars environmental laboratory can customize specific parameters and functional requirements based on different experimental needs. The testing process involves the comprehensive simulation of multiple special environments, primarily including the following functions:
1. Temperature control: Simulates the surface temperature of Mars, capable of replicating extreme temperatures from the lowest to the highest on the Martian surface.
2. Pressure control: Simulates the surface pressure of Mars. The atmospheric pressure on Mars is less than one percent of that on Earth, and its main component is CO2. Simulating its low pressure must be considered in combination with low-temperature simulation.
3. Wind simulation: Simulates the wind speed on the Martian surface, capable of replicating wind speeds of up to 50 m/s at the junctions of Martian terrain to study their impact on the landing and exploration activities of Mars spacecraft and related equipment.
4. Solar radiation: Enables large-area solar irradiation simulation in the visible and infrared spectral ranges, serving tests for spacecraft optical sensors and thermal flow simulation.
5. Low-gravity simulation: Simulates the surface gravity of Mars. The gravitational acceleration on Mars is only one-third of that on Earth. Ground-based low-gravity simulation is often achieved using force balance methods.
6. Martian dust: Dust deposition on Mars affects the efficiency of solar arrays. Therefore, it is necessary to simulate the Martian dust environment to analyze dust settlement time, study dust prevention measures for external equipment such as research institutions, and verify test methods to implement targeted dust prevention measures and ensure equipment reliability.
7. Martian soil: Different experiments require different engineering simulation soils. The physical and mechanical properties of simulated soil can be controlled through particle size distribution during preparation, as well as sprinkling and compaction processes during conditioning, and by designing parameters such as the internal friction angle and cohesion of particles.
Parameters:
1) Temperature: -143~27°C
2) Pressure: 0.59~1.5 kPa
3) Wind speed: 0~50 m/s
4) Solar irradiance: 493~718 W/m²
5) Low gravity: 3.72 m/s²
(All the above parameters can be custom-designed according to user requirements.)
